Surround yourself with other entrepreneurs.

The best way to stay motivated is to surround yourself with people who are just as determined and focused on their goals as you are. They’ll keep you motivated and inspired, while also providing valuable advice and support when things get tough. Plus, you can learn from each other’s mistakes—and help each other out if one of your businesses takes off! Focus on the big picture. The biggest mistake that entrepreneurs make is getting too caught up in the day-to-day details of running a business. You’ll often hear people say that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” That’s especially true when you’re an entrepreneur—it’s easy to get caught up in focusing on what needs to be done today instead of thinking about how it fits into your overall goals.

Get organised

Organisation is key when it comes to productivity. Organizing your workspace, using a to-do list and calendar, and finding a project management tool are all ways to stay on top of your business.

Try this method:

  • Create folders for different types of projects you have going on so that you can easily find what you need.

  • Use a good notebook or journal for your daily notes. This will help keep track of important things that come up throughout the day without cluttering up your mind or making it hard for you to focus on what’s happening around you in real life. Also consider having separate notebooks for each major area of responsibility (for example, one for finances). If possible try using electronic versions so they’re searchable by keyword later down the road when needed again.

  • Manage your time by using an online time tracker, this will allow you to realise how much time you are spending on each project.

  • If there is a task that is long-winded and boring, consider outsourcing some tasks. This saves you time and overall money.

Nimble has a great post about the best organisational software available on the internet, have a read here.

Take one step at a time.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by a big goal, you can get distracted by focusing on a goal that, right now, seems far away. But if you take it one step at a time, the goal won’t seem too far away.

  • Take a deep breath and focus on the present.

  • Don’t worry about what you can’t control.

  • Focus on the task at hand, not the bigger picture.

For example, if your goal is to get 1,000 visitors to your website per month, don’t think about how many months it will take or how much money and time it will cost to reach that goal. Instead, focus on achieving the smaller goals along the way—like getting 100 visitors this week or hiring someone to build out an email list in exchange for equity in your company so that they’ll be incentivized to help grow your business!

If you are struggling to stay focused or feel like you need a refresh, then business coaching might be a good option. Read our post on startup business coaching to find out more.

Have a morning routine.

Routines are an important part of your life. They can help you feel in control, they can give you energy and help you focus. Having a morning routine is a great way to start the day. I’ve found that having a morning routine gives me more energy and helps me get things done quickly. It also helps keep my mind focused on what is most important for me to accomplish during the day.

Don’t focus on failures.

If you’re still looking for motivation to get started, don’t focus on failures. You will have them, but don’t let them stop you.

I know that’s easier said than done, but hear me out: Failures are part of the process. They happen to everyone and they can be good things if we learn from them and move on.

If you’ve failed, keep trying! There are plenty of examples of people who failed multiple times before they achieved success—like Thomas Edison trying over 2,000 times before inventing the lightbulb or Henry Ford making over 100 unsuccessful cars before finally getting it right with the Model T.

Make a vision board.

A vision board is a collage of images that represent your goals. It can include anything from photos of the house you want to buy to snapshots of your ideal car or vacation destination. The idea is that visually seeing what you want in life, will help motivate you to achieve those things.

You may be wondering how exactly this works—what’s the science behind it? Well, psychologists have found that when people visualize what they want out of life (and see themselves getting there), they feel more confident and motivated to take action towards achieving those goals. Visualization also triggers positive emotions that make us feel ready for change.

To get started on making your own vision board for business motivation:

  • Choose images and words that represent what success looks like for your company! For example, cash flow forecasts; a list of new customers; employees smiling (and having fun at work); testimonials from happy clients; etcetera… get creative!

Betterup has a great blog on how to make an effective vision board, read here.

Pick your heroes carefully.

You may be tempted to choose “successful” people as role models, but don’t settle for being impressed by just anyone.

Instead, choose someone you admire and want to emulate. The key is finding someone who inspires you and helps you grow personally and professionally.

One example of a great role model might be Steve Jobs or Bill Gates—people who were able to accomplish great things despite having many shortcomings in their lives (i.e., they weren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths). Their drive and determination inspire others because they demonstrate how hard work can pay off.

Every mistake can be a valuable lesson

Learn something new every day.

Learning something new every day is a great way to stay fresh and innovative. Whether you are learning a new skill or simply expanding your knowledge of something, it will help you be more creative when solving problems and developing ideas.

There are many ways to learn something new. You could read books, listen to podcasts or attend seminars. Or maybe even take an online course if that’s what interests you most! A great place to learn a new skill is Udemy, they have courses on just about anything.

If you want to start small and keep things simple then try talking with people who have different backgrounds than yours – they might have some unique perspectives on life that will help spark some ideas in other areas too!

Remember why you’re doing this.

Remember why you’re doing this. You’re doing it because you believe in your business because you want to make a difference, because of your vision, or because of the freedom that comes with being your own boss. If you feel like you are being caught up too much in the day-to-day of running your business or you need a reboot, then we have a free 30 min taster session to see if we can help you get back on track.
